Proposal Submission Guidelines
Each year, the South Dakota Personnel Association
invites graduate students to participate in an award competition.
The students are encouraged to explore a topic of interest, which has
bearing on student affairs work. The proposals are reviewed by the SDCPA President, Past-President and President-Elect.
The graduate student will present the winning
proposal during a 60-minute general session at the Mid-Winter Conference.
Cash awards up to $600 may be awarded for up to 3 graduate student award
recipients. This is an excellent professional development
experience. To learn more about this award and to pick up an
application, see your Graduate Program Professor or any SDCPA Executive
Board Member.
A complete submission packet includes the submission
form and narrative proposal. Proposals should address the following
information.
- The program title (limited to ten words);
- A program abstract suitable for publication,
fifty (50) words or less;
- A program description, no longer than five
hundred (500) words, that includes:
a. Introduction (including purpose and rationale)
b. Relevant conceptual/theoretical bases including a brief review
of the literature
c. Method of program presentation (including program agenda)
d. Learning objectives and outcomes (clearly specified)
e. Closing/Evaluation (how will you know if outcomes are
achieved?)
There is a yearly deadline for the
program proposals. Proposals may be submitted by mail, fax or e-mail
to the immediate past-president.
